Our History
Back the early 2000’s, 7 friends all living within 20 mins walk of each other, who were all into pirate radio, raving etc, decided they would put on a local event. We were all playing on radio at the weekends, on London’s Soundz FM (94.3MHz), but needed something extra in our lives.
After scouring the local area, a pub with a decent sized function room was found. A hidden gem by the name of The Manor, Biggin Hill, Kent. The name Manorizm was born!
At the time, we had a crew member working in SFR, a record shop in Bromley North. His name was K-Eye (or back then, K.I.D.). He had MC’d for a few big names in the scene at the time, so had a decent following. My brother designed and created large, promotional posters at art school for the record shop. Within days, the 200 tickets had sold out and our first event was happening!
In a mad panic, we hunted down and tested speakers man enough for the venue, hired lights, smoke machine etc. All this, along with the decks and PC to record the event, were thrown into someone’s work van and transported the venue.
The night was a total success, and finally we made a little name for ourselves. We hosted 3 more nights at this venue, then one more in Beckenham before calling it a day. The Manor, along with its owner Barry (R.I.P.), are no longer with us, but the love for jungle/dnb lives on.
Since then, we have hosted a few events in Tunbridge Wells, one with a guest slot from a friend of friend, someone you might have heard of? None other than the legendary, Nicky Blackmarket. Unfortunately, the club we used had some issues, and this was more short lived than we had hoped.
A bit dejected by all this, I wanted to keep the vibe alive and launched an online station - Manorizm Radio. Archived sets play at random 24/7/365 and you can also listen to, and interact with, live DJ sets. I personally host a show called Wednesday Night Sessions, which has run weekly since late 2021, where I play music from my collection across the years. Expect to hear anything from 80’s Electro, to tearing jungle riddim.
